The soil scam (also known locally as ‘mitti ghotala’) refers to a charge by former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi. Modi alleged that Yadav had given a contract worth Rs 90 lakh towards land filling in the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in the state capital Patna without following the tender process for beautification and the construction of a pathway.
Mrityunjay Tiwari, spokesperson for the RJD stated that Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav had clarified that the tender was worth Rs 44 lakh only and was meant for the purchase of soil.
