RSS shakhas or branches located at villages across the country can serve as a firewall and protect children especially girls, according to Nobel Laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.
He also added that women today were wrestling with fear, threat and insecurity wherever they went and that it was a big disrespect to Bharat Mata.
“Youth from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) can take the lead on this path for saving the present and future of our motherland,” Satyarthi said, as reported by The Financial Express.
“If the shakhas (branches) of the Sangh situated in almost all villages across the length and breadth of India serve as a firewall to protect this generation of children, then all the generations to come will become self-sufficient in protecting themselves,” he added.
He also expressed concern over the recently occurred incidents where people responsible for protecting the children were found guilty of rape, murder and child trafficking.“Those who are entrusted with the responsibility of running shelter homes for girls are raping and murdering them,” Satyarthi said.
He also said that the ones responsible for children’s welfare are selling them and girls are apprehensive to attend schools in fear of harassment and eve-teasing.
He further added that no respectable society could be built without compassion when talking about the importance of empathy comparing it to a body without a soul.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
