Noida plans to unveil a metro version of the fast local train services on the lines of Mumbai and Kolkata, reports Financial Express.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has proposed to introduce ‘express’ trains during peak hours. The express trains would, however, be an additional one where a few out of the total 19 trains will run faster trips and will likely skip a few stations. "It is to be decided which metro stations they will skip", an official from NMRC was quoted as saying.
The express train services are proposed to help bring commuting time down to 8 to 10 minutes and will run initially at a 12-minute frequency.
Various reports suggest that the corporation has begun a survey seeking people's opinions, which includes a questionnaire that will be opened to the public on 12 October and will remain open till 12 November.
The questionnaire aims to know how often the public is likely to use the Aqua Line, their interest in availing the express service, their choice of travel time, time of boarding and alighting and category of use (student/working/retired/elderly).
As per the questionnaire, peak time is from 8 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm. The survey will also help the corporation fix the routes and timings for feeder buses.
Executive Director of NMRC, P D Upadhyay, informed that the corporation had received eight trains and the remaining have arrived at Mundra port. He further added that a total of 11 trains would be in their fleet by the end of this month.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
