Noida: Income Tax Department Attaches 7 Acre Benami Plot Belonging To Mayawati’s Brother Anand Kumar Worth Rs 400 Crore

Sleuths from the Income Tax (IT) Department today (18 July) attached a benami property in Noida owned by by Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati’s brother, Anand Kumar and his wife, reports The Hindu. The property is believed to be worth approximately Rs 400 crore.
The plot in question is approximately seven acres in size. Interestingly, Kumar had only recently been re-appointed by Mayawati as the deputy party chief. In fact, his son, Akash Anand, is seen as Mayawati’s successor as leader of the party, and currently serves as national coordinator.
Previously as well, Anand Kumar’s financial dealings have come under scrutiny from authorities. Following the announcement of demonetisation, Enforcement Directorate officials discovered cash deposits of more than Rs 104 crore in a BSP bank account, while an account in Anand Kumar’s name had deposits to the tune of Rs 1.43 crore.
