Incumbent President Donald Trump is now leading in the key battleground state of North Carolina. Out of the 270 electoral college votes needed by any candidate to be chosen president, North Carolina holds 15.
As per USA Today, at the time of writing, more than 90 per cent of the ballots had been reported and Trump had got 49.7 per cent of that vote while Biden was at 49.1 per cent.
In 2016, Trump had won North Carolina with a difference of 3.5 percentage points over Hillary Clinton.
In the run up to Election Day 2020 in America, North Carolina was considered as amongst the most crucial battleground states.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
