India’s home-grown ride-sharing platform Ola Cabs has decided to go international and foray into the Australian market, reports The Hindu Business Line. Looking to make its entry in the cities of Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, the aggregator has invited private car owners to partner with them today (30 January) with a low commission rate of 7.5 per cent. Ola currently charges between 20 and 22 per cent as commission per ride for its partners in India.

Partners will require an Android phone, which Ola will provide till the launch of its iOS app for iPhones. It is currently accepting only private vehicles for hire and will go in for a commuter launch once it has a sizable number drivers registered.

We are very excited about launching Ola in Australia and see immense potential for the ride-sharing ecosystem which embraces new technology and innovation. With a strong focus on driver-partners and the community at large, we aim to create a high-quality and affordable travel experience for citizens and look forward to contributing to a healthy mobility ecosystem in Australia.
