Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti got into a nasty fight while they were being detained at Hari Niwas Palace over BJP’s rise in the state, Times of India has reported.
The fight reportedly got so bad that the officials had to shift the two to different locations. Unnamed officials quoted in the report claimed that the two began accusing each other of helping the BJP enter Jammu and Kashmir.
The report claims that the staff of Hari Niwas Palace, a government guesthouse could clearly hear the duo verbally attacking each other. The duo was being housed on separate floors.
During this argument Abdullah reportedly taunted Mufti and her late father for aligning with the BJP between 2015 and 2018. Mufti retorted by blaming Sheikh Abdullah (Omar’s grandfather) over J&K’s accession to India and reminded him of National Conference’s alliance with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA government.
As the fight kept escalating, the officials decided to separate them. While Mufti remained at the guesthouse, Abdullah was shifted to a “splendid hut” owned by the forest department.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
