Under Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's flagship Saubhagya scheme, over 20,000 houses in the far-flung regions of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)'s Rajouri district have received power connections, reports Asian News International (ANI).
It has been reported that the people who are witnessing power supply in their homes for the first time have expressed happiness especially given without access to electricity the children would face a lot of problems.
Hailing the development, Rajouri's Sarpanch Sajid parvev said, “There were around 20,000 houses in the district that never had access to electricity. PM Narendra Modi made it possible by implementing schemes. We have provided all the houses with electricity.”
The Saubhagya scheme had been launched by PM modi on 25 September in 2017 with the aim to provide electricity connections to all the households in India, across the rural and urban landscapes.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
