Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav on Friday (8 October) informed that more than 3 crore unorganised workers have registered themselves on the E-shram portal.
The E-Shram portal has been developed by the government for creating a National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) in the country.
In a tweet on Friday (8 October), Yadav said that the portal will help the workers in the unogranised sectors to get the benefits of the government's various schemes.
Earlier on Friday, in the 177th Governing Body Meeting and 78th Annual General Body meeting of the Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development, chief labour commissioner (central) D P S Negi said, “Earlier, we did not have any means to provide benefits to unorganised workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, since we did not have data on them. But now, the e-Shram Card will serve as a single card to avail government benefits across the country, it will be One Nation One Card”.
According to a Ministry of Labour statement, Negi also asked the Board to include the details about registering on the e-Shram portal and disseminate the benefits of registering at the portal to the unorganised workers in the country.
