The Ministry of Railways on Tuesday (4 January) said that more than 75 per cent of North Eastern Railway (NER) routes have been electrified and 100 per cent electrification on the NER routes is likely to be achieved by the end of the year 2022.
The ministry further said that after electrification of main NER routes, the expenditure on high speed diesel (HSD) has been considerably reduced registering a saving of Rs 361 crore.
"CUF (Capacity Utilisation Factor) based solar monitoring system has been implemented which has resulted in 26 per cent higher solar energy generation in this year as compared to corresponding period of last year with the same installed capacity of 4.72 MWp", it added.
Total 31 pair trains which originate or terminate on North Eastern Railway are running on Head On Generation (HOG) system, the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the NER has commissioned doubling and electrification of 101 km routes including Aunrihar-Ghazipur City (40 Km) and Sitapur-Parsendi (16.8 km) routes.
Further, electrification of 406 km routes has also been commissioned last year, the ministry informed.
