In a video that went viral on social media, a Hindu girl in Pakistan who was kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam in February 2021 was seen pleading for help.
On 13 February, Reena Meghwar was abducted from Keriogjar, Badin, converted to Islam, and then married to man. The family had lodged FIR but the police failed to rescue the girl.
In the heart wrenching video, Reena Meghwar is seen crying and says she wants to go to her home. Voice of some other women can be heard in the video who did not offer any help to the girl.

Kidnap and forceful conversion of Hindu girls has become a routine occurrence in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. These cases are often reported from Sindh province which is home to the country's majority Hindu population.
Recently a 22 year old Hindu girl named Arti Bai who was kidnapped in Larkana of Pakistan was converted to Islam and married off to a man.
Such cases most often go unreported and even those cases reported in the media do not get any attention from the authorities.
Cases of attacks on Hindu temples and kidnapping Hindu girls in Pakistan are routine.
Entire Pakistan has only 30 functional temples today, out of the 1,300 pre-Partition era temples.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
