Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a telephonic interaction with chowkidars (Watchmen) across the country, slammed a section of the Indian opposition which has played politics over the Indian Air Force’s strike in Balakot, Hindustan Times has reported.
Following a question by one of the audience members, Prime Minister Modi replied that while everyone should be proud of India’s armed forces, the opposition has been raising questions over the Pulwama terror attack.
He question as to why are the opposition leaders not been able to digest the achievement of the forces which includes the Balakot air strike.
“Pakistan has been bombed, it has been hurt but these leaders in India are in pain and crying foul”, Prime Minister Modi added.
Following the air strike, various opposition leaders like senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh sought evidence of the operation. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee too questioned the ‘credibility’ of the air strikes.
This interaction was part of the BJP’s ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign which markets its central government’s vigilance against nefarious activities. This has been called a direct response to Congress’ ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ allegation against Prime Minister Modi.
