A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed by Saravanan, a lawyer reportedly representing the Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuva Sakthi in the Supreme Court, seeking a CBI probe into the death of late Tamil Nadu chief minster J Jayalalithaa.

The PIL apparently claims that Jayalalithaa’s medical condition could have been exacerbated deliberately by people around her.

A similar point was made by RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy, in an interview to News18:

Jayalalithaa was in the hospital for over 50 days, she was ailing for months. And in these cases, let us assume you have to administer a medicine to her, which is risky. Who will you consult? You should consult a relative or somebody. If there is no relative, who did they consult? It is an issue concerning medical discipline. We need not have to go into who did a wrong thing and all that. Whether the medical discipline was observed or not is a matter for investigation...

Jayalalithaa was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai on 22 September 22, and she died on 5 December.
