Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and his British counterpart PM Boris Johnson are set to hold a virtual bilateral summit tomorrow (4 May) which will also witness the launch of a comprehensive “Roadmap 2030” to further deepen the strong ties between the two nations, reports Livemint.

The said Roadmap 2030 will pave the way for further expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation over the next decade across five key areas - people-to-people relationship, trade & prosperity, defence & security, climate action & healthcare.

Regarding the virtual summit, Downing Street has said that the meeting between the two PMs will be held to agree on a "huge range" of commitments which would include the fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It should be noted that India and the United Kingdom (UK) enjoy a Strategic Partnership since 2004. The same has been further strengthened over the years with regular high-level exchanges and growing convergences in diverse areas.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that the UK Government has also announced that it will be sending another 1,000 ventilators to India to help cope with the ongoing surge in fresh cases of COVID-19.
