On the special occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (16 April) unveiled a 108-feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman in Gujarat's Morbi district via video conferencing.

The statue is the second of the four statues being set up in the four directions across the country, as part of 'Hanumanji Char dham project.

"We have been seeing a similar grand Hanuman statue in Shimla for years now. The second has been established in Morbi today. I have been told that two more statues will be established in Rameswaram and West Bengal," PM Modi was quoted in a ANI report as saying.

The Hanumanji statue has been set up in the west, at the Ashram of Bapu Keshvanand ji in Morbi.

The first statue of the series was set up at the Jakhu hills in the north in Shimla in 2010.

The work on the statue in the south at Rameswaram has been started, the release said.

The first giant statue constructed in Shimla was completed in two years and has been sculpted by a Rajasthan sculptor, reports News18.

Reportedly, about 1,500 tonnes of materials were used to construct the statue.
