Following the debacle of Congress and its alliance partner, the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly elections, a poster has appeared in front of the party’s office in Lucknow. The poster, bearing a photograph of Rajesh Singh, senior Congressman, who has served as a secretary four times for the party, announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who found strategist Prashant Kishor.
Singh, who was suspended for his banter against Kishor at a party meeting chaired by veteran Raj Babbar over the weekend, stood by his words.
Kishor, a political strategist, came to the fore following an overwhelming victory of the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 where he was a strategist. He later worked with the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) campaign in 2015 for the Bihar assembly elections for which he was accorded the rank of a cabinet minister. Kumar had loaned him to the Congress for the Uttar Pradesh elections. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh too, has praised Kishor for his work.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
