Power Ministry, EESL Has Installed 10 Lakh Smart Electricity Meters Across Country, Informs MoS R K Singh

Working on a mission mode, the Ministry of Power has successfully hit the milestone of installing 10 lakh smart meters across the nation through its public sector joint venture Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), reports Asian News International (ANI).
The meters installed are operational in States like Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bihar, Haryana and also the in national capital of Delhi. It is likely to introduce greater efficiency in the electricity distribution systems.
The announcement of the achievement was made by the Union Minister of State of Power R K Singh at an event organised to mark the ten years of EESL which is now aiming to soar into a Rs 10,000 crore behemoth within the next three years.
It should be noted that Ministry of Power's EESL has also supplanted as many as 1.06 crore street lights across the nation with LED lights within a span of 12 months. It has also successfully commissioned 100 megawatt (MW) of cumulative capacity solar plants connected to the agriculture feeders.
