Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati Shashi Shekhar condemned the inappropriate adjectives used by the editor of a popular Marathi daily Loksatta Girish Kuber for a member of the board and popular Hindi film actor Kajol.
The editorial titled ‘Prachar Bharati’ had while discussing the recent PTI versus Prachar Bharati feud questioned the presence of Bollywood actor Kajol on the board of the public service broadcaster.
‘Actress Kajol is presently on the board of Prasar Bharati. No one knows what the professional contribution of this ‘zara sa jhoom loon main’ half clothed skilful dancer lady is. But it is true that she is a ‘part time’ director of the Prasar Bharati. This is precisely why professional journalists started staying away from this ‘Bharati’.’ roughly read the portion in which he questioned the presence of the Bollywood actress on board.
Social media users had condemned the use of such adjectives for the actress and called it ‘mysogynistic’. The CEO tweeted out saying the said comments about the member of the board were “Deplorable and unacceptable”.
The Loksatta editor was earlier accused of plagiarism and called out by social media users. His editorial titled ‘Covidoscope’ was accused of translating into Marathi ideas expressed in a blogpost titled ‘A sense of proportion’ by a PhD expert Andrew Lilico.
The current editorial in question discusses the flak that PTI received for its interview with Chinese ambassador Sun Weidone where he had held India responsible for the current crisis at the border and the face-off in Galwan valley.
