President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday (10 November) conferred honorary rank of General of Indian Army on Nepal Army chief General Prabhu Ram Sharma.
The honour was conferred upon the Nepal Army chief at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in reciprocation of the honour given to Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane during his visit to the Himalayan nation in November last year.
General Prabhu Ram Sharma is on a four-day visit to New Delhi from 9 November to 12 November.
During his visit, the Nepal Army chief will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Indian counterpart General M M Naravane.
The Nepal Army chief will also meet National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the service chiefs of Navy and Air Force and defence secretary Ajay Kumar.
He will also attend an event at the National Defence College where he has attended a course earlier.
General Prabhu Ram Sharma's visit takes forward the revival of India-Nepal relations that was achieved when Indian Army Chief Gen Naravane visited the country last year in November, reports India Today.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
