The key accused in last year’s grenade attack on a police station in Punjab’s Jalandhar has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Pulwama as per reports by The Hindu. He has been identified as Amir Nazir Mir, a resident of Dadsara, Awantipora, Pulwama.
On 14 September 2018, four grenades were thrown at the building of Maksudan police station in Jalandhar which injured one police personnel. “NIA investigation has revealed that the attack was the handiwork of Kashmir-based terror outfit Ansar Ghazawat-ul-Hind (AGH),” said the statement issued by the probe agency.
Two other accused hailing from Pulwama - Fazil Bashir Pinchoo and Shahid Qayoom - were earlier arrested in the case- they were pursuing their B. Tech from St. Soldier Group of Colleges in Jalandhar.
Mir is the key accused as he procured and facilitated delivery of four grenades used in the attack on the directions of AGH chief Zakir Musa.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
