Punjab Police Arrests Serving Indian Army Soldier Over Suspicions Of Spying For Pakistan; Sensitive Documents Recovered

In Amritsar, the local police has detained a serving soldier from the Indian Army over allegations that he was spying for Pakistan. The police have also found sensitive documents with him, which makes the situation more dangerous, reports The Times of India.

Senior superintendent of police from Amritsar Vikramjit Duggal mentioned that they had arrested Malkiat Singh, also known as Fauji, from the village of Mahwal. The village is adjacent to the international border with Pakistan, which falls under the Gharinda police station. He was a sepoy in the Indian army and was presently posted in Jammu and Kashmir.

Fauji was arrested from the Khasa cantonment area in Amritsar, notified Duggal.

The police had discovered, series of suspicious photographs, around three mobile phones, army's journey details, training manuals, and other documents on the secret knowledge of military areas etc.

The investigations have uncovered that Malkiat was in contact with the agents of ISI, Pakistan's intelligence agency and also Pakistani smugglers, on email, mobile phones and social media apps including WhatsApp.
