Following a major gaffe in a question paper, Anna University has announced that it will conduct a re-exam for the same. Students studying Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from the 538 engineering colleges affiliated to the university appeared for the 'Opto Electronic Devices' subject exam on 2 November, reports Times of India.

Students were left stunned when they observed that Part-B of the question paper, which contained five 13-mark questions, was a replica of last year’s question paper. Five out of the 10 questions in Part-A, which contained two marks questions, was also found to be the same as the previous year’s question paper.

The university has demanded an explanation from the examiner who was responsible for setting the question paper, while the Controller of Examinations, M Venkatesan, has announced that a re-exam for the particular subject would be conducted on 28 November afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm, in an official communication to all colleges.

This comes as a blow to the university as the incident occurred after university officials were suspended and arrested for a re-evaluation scam.
