In a major success for the Uttar Pradesh (UP) administration and police apparatus, not a single incident of violence has been reported in Ayodhya or elsewhere in the state following the Supreme Court's historic verdict in the long-drawn Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land title dispute, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Circle Officer from the city of Ayodhya, Amar Singh said, "We have been patrolling all areas to ensure that no rumour mongering is done by any anti-social elements." Singh expressed confidence that both the Hindus and the Muslims had accepted the verdict of the top court.
In anticipation of a verdict by the Supreme Court in the case which has a gory past attached to it, the UP administration and police had significantly overhauled the security and law and order apparatus in Ayodhya and the rest of the State.
It should also be noted that a day ahead of the verdict in the case, Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi held a meeting with the Chief Secretary of UP and the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state to get a grip of the administration's preparation and ability to ensure that no act of violence gets an upper hand over law and order.

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
