Soon after Home Minister Amit Shah moved the resolution scrapping Article 370 in the Rajya Sabha on Monday (5 August), the Government of Indian issued the official Gazetted notification to this regard.
As per the notification titled, “The Constitution (Application To Jammu and Kashmir) Order 2019, the President with the concurrence of the Jammu and Kashmir government exercised powers conferred to him under the section (1) of Article 370 to pass the order superseding the Constitution (Application To Jammu and Kashmir) Order 1954.
This order will come into effect from immediate effect.
As per the order signed by President Ram Nath Kovind, four clauses would be added to Article 367 including a statement that the Constituent assembly of the state” would henceforth be known as “Legislative assembly of the state”.
