Reliance Becomes India's Largest Single Location Producer Of Medical Oxygen, To Help 1 Lakh Patients Free Of Cost Everyday

Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) which is at the forefront among private sector entities in providing Covid-19 relief has become India's largest producer of Medical Grade Liquid Oxygen from a single location.

Today, RIL produces over 11 per cent of India's total production of Medical Grade Liquid Oxygen, thus meeting the needs of nearly every one in ten patients.

The company ramped up production of Medical Grade Liquid Oxygen from near zero to 1000 MT per day in Jamnagar where RIL operates the world's largest crude oil refinery and supplying it to many states at free of charge. According to the company, 1000 MT of oxygen is meeting the needs of over one lakh people everyday.

Chairman of RIL, Mukesh Ambani is personally supervising scale-up of production and transportation at Jamnagar. In April 2021, Reliance supplied over 15,000 MT of Medical Grade Liquid Oxygen free of cost and helped nearly 15 lakh patients, reports ANI.

Also in an effort to boost medical oxygen transportation capacity of India, Reliance airlifted 24 ISO containers for transporting Oxygen - creating an additional 500 MT of transportation capacity.

The company thanked global Oil companies like ARAMCO, BP and Indian Air Force (IAF) for their help in sourcing and transportation of cryogenic containers. The company informed that more ISO containers being air freighted over the next few days.

In addition, Reliance has set up a 1,000-bed COVID-19 medical oxygen facility at Jamnagar in Gujarat.
