These reports come after cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab conducted an investigation on the Dark Web markets to find out the worth of personal data. It was reportedly discovered that cybercriminals could sell the complete digital life of a person for a sum of Rs 3,500.
The list of items for sale could include data from stolen social media accounts, banking data, remote access to servers or desktops, and even data from popular services like Netflix, Spotify and Uber, as well as gaming websites, dating apps, and porn websites which might store credit card information, claim researchers at Kaspersky.
The Dark Web is an encrypted part of the internet, not indexed usually by search engines. Researchers at Kaspersky have found that the price paid for a single hacked account is about $1. It has been learnt that cyber-criminals are also offering discounts for bulk-buying.
This can be prevented by using a cybersecurity software and being aware of data shared on the internet as per David Jacoby, a senior security researcher at Kaspersky.
