The president of Ayyappa Dharma Sena and right-wing activist Rahul Easwar was arrested by the Palakkad police on his way to attend a function of the Hindu Mahasabha, reports The New Indian Express.
A case was filed against Easwar for obstructing the police at Sabarimala when the devotees were protesting outside the temple. A court in Ranni had cancelled Easwar's bail application on Saturday for violating the bail norms. Easwar had to sign at the local police station every Saturday for two months according to the bail conditions.
A report had been at the Grama Nyayalaya in Ranni by the police stating that Rahul had violated the bail conditions.
As a reason for the recent arrest, the police had pointed out that he had not signed at the local police station on 8 December.
Meanwhile, Rahul Easwar slammed the police for nitpicking technical details to send him to jail. He also alleged a conspiracy to dilute the Sabarimala issue and wreaking vengeance on devotees who protested the government action.
