In a fresh lease of life to the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, a tigress named ST-10 has given birth to a cub after two years. A photograph of the cub playing with the mother near a water hole shows the tigress wearing a radio collar around her neck.

A report in the Times of India states that three cubs born in December in the Reserve disappeared mysteriously. The birth of a new cub has given hope to tiger conservationists. In the past two years, the reserve has seen several tiger deaths.

The first photo of ST-10 and her cub was captured in Talvriksh range on Monday (31 March).

The number of tigers in the Rajasthan reserve according to the same report has now gone up to 16. The park has seven females, three males, and six cubs.
