The managing director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI), Anshula kant has been appointed as the managing director (MD) and chief financial officer (CFO) of the World Bank, reports Economic Times.
The big news was broken to the world by the President of the World Bank, David Malpass on Friday (12 July). As the MD and CFO, Kant will be looking after the financial and risk management of the entire World Bank Group.
Kant is a graduate in Economic Honours from Lady Shri Ram College for Women and a Post-Graduate in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.
"I am very pleased to appoint Anshula Kant as World Bank Group Managing Director and CFO. Anshula brings more than 35 years of expertise in finance, banking, and innovative use of technology through her work as CFO of the State Bank of India," said Malpass.
It should be noted that as the CFO of the SBI, Kant managed a whopping $38 billion of revenues and assets totaling to $500 billion. She is known to have greatly improved the capital base and focused on the long term sustainability of the SBI within her mandate.
