The Delhi Police has arrested seven people in connection to the murder of Head Constable, Ratan Lal during the Northeast Delhi riots, Indian Express has reported.

As per Delhi Police spokesperson M S Randhawa, Lal’s death was a result of bullet injuries he sustained during the clash in Wazirabad road.

“During the investigation, we found that an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protest was held near the spot. A conspiracy was hatched to attack the police,” Randhawa was quoted as saying.

As per the report, those arrested have been identified as Saleem Malik, Mohd Jalaluddin, Mohd Ayub, Mohd Yunus, Arif, Saleem Khan and Md Danish. All except Danish are residents of Chand Bagh.

News18 had earlier reported that the crime branch looked at crucial CCTV footage to identify the killer and attackers. Local surveillance, CCTV footage and information from eyewitnesses also helped in identifying the rioters.

Additionally, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has also identified the attackers who seriously injured DCP Shahdara IPS Amit Sharma and Delhi police officer ACP Anuj Sharma.
