The Indian railways is about to launch its first-ever hop-on-hop-off (HOHO )service between Kalka-Shimla for the tourist season.
The HOHO concept will ensure smooth travel for tourists, avoiding prior booking months before. The service will be like Europe’s Euro Rail, in which a passenger can board any coach of any train, keeping in mind availability of seats, and/or de-board any train at any station.
The passengers, however, will not be entitled to receive the complimentary services.
"We introduced this a month back, but it will actually kick off in the coming tourist season between 15 December and 15 February when the tickets will be bought in large numbers. This is the first time the railways has introduced the 'HOHO' concept," said Divisional Railway Manager DC Sharma, as reported by Deccan Herald.
The ticket pricing for one day is Rs 500 for an adult and Rs 250 for a child. For two days, it shall be Rs 800 for an adult and Rs 400 for a child; and for three days, Rs 1,000 for an adult and Rs 500 for a child.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
