Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad will be connected to all existing and future metro corridors. Telangana government on (7 April), The Hindu has reported.
K T Rama Rao, working president of the Telangana ruling party TRS, announced that Metro connectivity is one of the many initiatives his government will be undertaking in its second term at the office.
Once completed, the International airport will also be connected to Mind Space junction, with terminal points at Falaknuma and L B Nagar. Other routes would include Chandanagar to Lakdikapul, Nagole to L B Nagar and ECIL to Uppal.
Rao added that the proposal for the second phase of the metro rail was already prepared and sent to the centre for financial approval.
Other development programmed include:
1. An integrated township with affordable housing for IT professionals and other executives around the Outer Ring Road (ORR)
2. Shifting of all polluting industries out of the industrial areas of Jeedimetla and Bachupally
3. Development of 240 lakes outside of the ORR at the cost of Rs 540 crore
4. Merging of peripheral municipalities with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, to be implemented at the cost of Rs 3,100 crore
5. Phasing out of 4000 polluting RTC buses
He also added that many software companies are willing to start their operation out of Hyderabad under their government and the IT exports of the city is expected to touch Rs 1.10 lakh crore by June 2019.
