Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal has approved a six-lane flyover to de-congest traffic in North and East Delhi, Hindustan Times has reported.
The projects were tabled at a meeting of Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning and Engineering) Centre. The technical body approves all transport and road infrastructure projects in the city. The project will be implemented by Delhi’s public works department.
The six-lane flyover will come up between the Ghazipur intersection on the National Highway 24 and Apsara border on GT road.
“This will ease traffic movement on the stretch, especially near Vivek Vihar, Sunder Nagar, Ramprastha Colony and Anand Vihar. Up and down ramps will be provided to connect this elevated corridor near Shresthra and Ramprastha intersections,” the official said.
The technical body approved two short-term road improvement plans near the Rani Jhansi flyover in addition to the six-lane flyover. It observed that the traffic congestion was quite high near under construction flyovers during the meeting.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
