Work on six-lane access controlled road between Bengaluru and Mysuru is currently underway and upon the completion of the project journey time between Mysuru and Bengaluru is set to reduce to 90 minutes from the existing three hours.
The Rs 7,500 crore project – fully funded by the Centre – is being taken up in two packages simultaneously. The first is from Panchamukhi Ganapathi Temple near the NICE Road in Bengaluru to Nidaghatta. The second is from Nidaghatta to Mysuru.
Under the expressway project, a 8 km bypass near Srirangapatana, a 10 km bypass for Mandya, 4 km bypass for Maddur and a 22 km bypass for Ramanagaram and Channapatana combined are being constructed.
The connectivity between the two cities also received a boost in form of air travel. Alliance Air would start five-day week flights connecting the two cities from 7 June under the centre’s Ude Desh Ka Nagrik (UDAN) scheme.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
