Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai's padayatra, 'En Mann En Makkal', will begin from Rameswaram on 28 July. It will be flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The padayatra will cover all 234 constituencies in the state and end on 11 January in Chennai.
BJP functionaries have met Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal and submitted a tentative plan to request adequate security.
The padayatra was earlier scheduled to start in April from Tiruchendur. It had got postponed due to the elections in neighbouring Karnataka.
