Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has made a significant price cut for set-up boxes (STBs) by Rs 400 intending to recapture the market, and prevent existing users from moving towards OTT apps, India Today reports.
The price slash comes in both HD and SD models to make viewership cheaper and follow the regulations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)‘s new tariff regime. Many of Tata Sky customers took to the national regulator to complain about the increase in prices.
Further, the Tata Sky has brought in a change in its distribution system. Until now, Tata Sky set-up boxes were available only from the company directly. However, according to an Indian Television report, both Tata Sky HD and SD STBs will also be available at local dealers and retailer stores.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
