Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Eatala Rajender is leading by over 3,000 votes against his nearest rival Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav in the bypoll to the Huzurabad assembly constituency in Telangana.
After the end of the eighth round of counting, the total lead of BJP candidate Eatala Rajender is 3,270 votes over nearest rival TRS candidate, reports Times of India.
Eatala Rajender got cumulative total votes of 35,107 by the end of eighth round while Gellu Srinivas Yadav got cumulative total votes of 31,837.
As of 2 pm, BJP is leading the bypoll by securing 48.61 per cent of the total votes counted so far. With 43.6 per cent of the total votes counted so far, TRS is trailing at the second position.
Earlier in June, Eatala Rajender had quit the TRS and resigned as party MLA from Huzurabad and later joined BJP. In October, BJP declared Eatala Rajender as its candidate for the Huzurabad bypoll.
