With just minutes to go for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speculation is rife over who would become a Minister in the new government.
Various heavyweights like Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh are expected to be part of the government but these top politicians are likely to miss out on a ministerial berth after not receiving a call from Prime Minister Modi as per journalist Shiv Aroor:
- Suresh Prabhu
- Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore
- Maneka Gandhi
- Radha Mohan Singh
- Jayant Sinha
- Jual Oram
While Arun Jaitley has made his decision to not be part of the new government, it is still not clear whether Sushama Swaraj will have any ministerial role.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
