Manchester United manager José Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect, read a statement made by the club. Mourinho was under immense after the club endured their worst start to a season since 1990-91 under Sir Alex Ferguson when they finished 24 points behind champions Arsenal.

United, after a lifeless performance against Liverpool remained stuck in sixth place with 26 points from 17 games. They are currently 19 points adrift from the top spot and 11 points away from the top four.
This comes despite an investment of £252 million in the past two seasons on players like Romelu Lukaku and Fred to beef up their squad. The club all this while has been heavily reliant on their star keeper David de Gea, thanks to the defensive shortcomings.
The task of fixing United’s leaky defence while playing entertaining football is said to have lead to the downfall of Mourinho. This was accompanied by his alleged clashed with star players like Paul Pogba.
His antics with the media also put the spotlight on the team reeling under lifeless performances which eventually led to the downfall of Mourinho’s term at United.
