Blatant misuse of state power against Republic TV & Arnab Goswami is an attack on individual freedom and the 4th pillar of democracy.
It reminds us of the Emergency. This attack on free press must be and WILL BE OPPOSED.
Shah in his tweet warned that such action by the Congress and its allies will be opposed.
"...Blatant misuse of state power against Republic TV & Arnab Goswami is an attack on individual freedom and the 4th pillar of democracy. It reminds us of the Emergency. This attack on free press must be and WILL BE OPPOSED.", Shah tweeted.
Other senior BJP leaders like J P Nadda, Dr S Jaishankar and Devendra Fadnavis have also condemned the action against Arnab.
Arnab was arrested today morning from his residence in Mumbai in-connection with a 2018 abetment to suicide case which has now been reopened by the cops.
Arnab has alleged that he was assaulted by the cops during their attempt to arrest him. Arnab's lawyer has now alleged that his family members were pushed around and his house was cordoned off for three hours. He adds that the cops also tried to aggravate Arnab's existing hand injury.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
