Three of the nation's leading private sector hospital chains, Max Healthcare, Fortis Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals have begun the roll-out of vaccination for those aged between 18-44 years today at select centres with limited supplies, reports Economic Times.
This gains significance as most state governments have said that they would be unable to start inoculation of 18-45 age group due to unavailability of vaccines.
Other private hospital chains have also said that they are facing a shortage of vaccines and would not be able to begin inoculating those in the 18-44 age group for now.
Apollo Hospitals will be charging Rs 1,250 for a dose of Covaxin, and Rs 850 per dose for Covishield. Meanwhile, Max Healthcare is likely to price Covishield dose at Rs 800-900 each.
Fortis Healthcare has meanwhile said that it would charge Rs 1,250 for administering a single dose of Covaxin. This charge would include the cost of the vaccine and the administrative charges.
It should also be noted that Max Healthcare's chairman Abhay Soi has said that the hospital chain plans to ramp up vaccination and will soon roll out vaccination drives in local communities, companies and RWAs.
