Three terrorists, who had abducted and killed a constable of the Jammu and Kashmir police last week, have been gunned down by the security forces, Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid has said, according to the Times of India.
The constable, identified as Mohammad Salim Khan, was abducted by the terrorists from his residence in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Friday (20 July). His body, bearing severe torture marks, was recovered yesterday. The constable was on leave from service when he was abducted.
Of late, terrorists in the Valley have been targeting police and army personnel visiting their native place while on leave from service.
This is the fourth such incident in recent times.
Earlier this month, a constable abducted by terrorists in south Kashmir's Shopian district was found dead in Shopian. The constable, identified as Javid Ahmad Dar, was abducted from a place near his home.
This came less than a month after an Indian Army soldier, Aurangzeb, was kidnapped and killed by terrorists in Pulwama district. Aurangzeb was travelling to his native place in a private vehicle to celebrate Eid.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
