Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, together released a translation of the Tamil classic 'Thirukkural' in the Tok Pisin language.
Composed by saint-poet Thiruvalluvar, it is considered to be one of the greatest works on ethics and morals.
Tok Pisin is the most widely spoken language in the country.
The book is co-authored by Subha Sasindran and Sasindran Muthuvel, who is the Governor of the province of West New Britain. It aims to bring Indian culture and ideas to the people in Papua New Guinea.
PM Modi has often quoted the Thirukkural in his speeches on various occasions.
Earlier, a video of PM Marape touching the feet of PM Modi at the airport while welcoming him to the country went viral on social media.
The visit is historic as it is the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. During his visit, PM Modi will co-chair the summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
