Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today (13 March) accused China of flooding various global markets with cheap steel and aluminium and said that his government had already taken steps to prevent China from “dumping” cheap metal into Canada, reports AFP.
We are very concerned about the actions taken by China and the dumping of steel and aluminum on the global market.Justin Trudeau
Trudeau’s statements come in the aftermath of United States’ President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a steep tariff on the import of steel and aluminium that has seen tensions rise among its allies.
Canada is among the top exporters of steel to the United States along with Japan and but has received an exemption from the new import tariffs.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
