West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar yesterday (27 November) took to Twitter to highlight how West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee used the phrase ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ (A line from a popular Hindi song roughly translating to ‘You are a fabulous thing’) in an apparent bid to mock him.
Sungbad Pratidin daily on 27/11 carried this story (narrated to me by several others) as regards the Constitution Day at Assembly. Honâble CM for Governor said âतॠà¤à¥à¤à¤¼ बड़ॠहॠमसà¥à¤¤ मसà¥à¤¤â. I refrain from any response given the personal regard for her and the office she holds. pic.twitter.com/KoyAolgur2

The chief minister is said to have made the comment on the occasion of Constitution Day being marked at the state assembly. Governor Dhankar further stated that when dignitaries were paying respects to Dr Ambedkar’s statue that day, Banerjee participated along with them, but did not do it when he came for the same.
This controversy is just the latest in a series of incidents showcasing the breakdown in relations between the state government and the governor. The governor was previously denied a chopper for an official visit to Murshidabad and has claimed that the state government’s officials are uncooperative towards him.
On the other hand, the Trinamool government accuses the governor of being a pawn of the Centre and making politically biased statements.
