In the ensuing chaos, fear, confusion and boredom, the publishers of Amar Chitra Khata have announced that they will give free access for 30-days to all their Comic Archives, reports News18.
Since all schools have been shut down and children have to stay indoors, this generous gesture is like a breath of fresh air. Amar Chitra Khata, who also publishes Tinkle comics, transcends generations of Indians who grew up reading such characters like Shikari Shambu, Suppandi and Tantri the Mantri.
If anyone wants a history lesson on Indian freedom movement, Amar Chitra Khata is a ready reckoner. They published stories of Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bagha Jatin, Lala Lapjpat Rai and Veer Savarkar and much more.

Amar Chitra Khata was founded by Anant Pai, in 1967, after he saw a quiz program on Doordarshan wherein the participants could easily answer questions on Greek mythology, but were unable to reply to the question "In the Ramayana, who was Rama's mother?
After being denied by many publishers who rejected his concept of publishing traditional Indian folk tales, and stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata and Panchatantra, Pai decided to start his publication and took the role of writer and editor.
The rest, as they say, is history.
