In a major connectivity boost for Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath led State Cabinet of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has green-lighted a light rail transit system and given the nod to its detailed project report (DPR), reports Livemint.
The 27.84 kilometres-long project would involve two elevated corridors involving a total of 27 stations. It will entail an expenditure of Rs 4,672 crore and is likely to be commissioned by 2024. Once commissioned the project is expected to improve the traffic arrangement of the city, ensuring smoother commute experience for the people of the city.
