UP Cabinet Minister Kamal Rani Passes Away Due To COVID-19; CM Yogi Expresses Grief

Kamal Rani Varun, a Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh (UP)'s Yogi Adityanath government, passed away on Sunday (2 August) after battling COVID-19 for almost two weeks.
The 62-year-old Minister of Technical Education had been receiving treatment for coronavirus at Lucknow's Rajdhani Covid Hospital since 18 July.
Updating reporters on the tragic development, Director PGI professor Radha Krishna Dheeman said, "The condition of minister deteriorated after infection in lungs. She was put on life support system. Despite the best efforts of doctors she passed away on Sunday."
Rani represented Kanpur's Ghatampur constituency in the state assembly.
Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the deceased minister's death and offered condolences to her family. The CM also cancelled his today's Ayodhya visit to review the preparations of bhoomi pujan ceremony for Ram mandir.
