Tainted Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Khan have been taken back to the Sitapur district jail after being discharged from the Medanta hospital following their recovery from Covid-19.
The two of them were admitted in the hospital on 9th May, and they have been declared medically fit now and hence have been taken to the jail where they have numerous cases registered against them.
The father-son duo had tested positive for Covid-19 on 30th April. Sitapur district jail superintendent Suresh Kumar Singh confirmed to the Press Trust of India (PTI) that they were brought back to the jail upon being released from the hospital.
Khan along with his wife Tazeen Fatma and son Abdullah were put behind the bars in February 2020 in connection with multiple cases. However, Fatma was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in December 2020 in all of the 34 cases that were filed against her.
“Seeing the improvement in his (Azam Khan's) and his son's health conditions, they were discharged from the Medanta Hospital at 10.30 on July 13. He and his son are now fully medically fit,” Medanta Hospital’s statement was quoted in the report.
