United States (US) Donald trump on Tuesday (31 March) said that the next two weeks would be "very painful" for America. The statement by Trump came after the White House warned that the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic could lead to deaths of as many as 2,40,000 US nationals, reports Hindustan Times.
Addressing a press conference at the White House, President Trump said, "This is going to be a very painful, a very, very painful two weeks." Calling the pandemic to be a plague, he added, "I want every American to be prepared for the hard days that lie ahead."
The development came after White house's coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Brix at a press conference displayed a chart that projected a range of 1,00,000 to 2,40,000 deaths in the US due to Coronavirus, taking into account the measures already taken by the US administration to contain the pandemic.
"There's no magic vaccine or therapy. It's just behaviours, each of our behaviours translating into something that changes the course of this viral pandemic over the next 30 days,” Brix said.
